Meet the Blue Octopus Printing Company Staff

Gary Johnloz
Vice President of Business Development

Gary brings more than 35 years of disparate senior management experience to Blue Octopus Printing. Since graduating from Purdue University, Gary served as a pilot in the 122 Tactical Fighter Wing, Indiana Air National Guard, and founded and led project development for Engineering Consultants, Inc., a mechanical and electrical design company. He joined AWS in 1994 and is responsible for all strategic development and manufacturing at Post Masters, Highway Safety Specialists and the Blue Octopus Printing Company, all affiliates of AWRC.

Gary’s hobbies are as varied as his career. He gardens (and cans and freezes the harvest) and escapes brutal Indiana winters to visit his Florida condo. Around the Fort Wayne area, he can often be seen on his Harley and with his St. Bernard, “Gunner.”

Jeff Harris
Vice President

Jeff Harris brings a wide range of project management experience from both the private and public sectors to his role at Blue Octopus Printing. In addition to overseeing operations at Blue Octopus, Jeff also serves as Vice President of Post Masters, the full-service mailing and fulfillment company housed under the same roof as Blue Octopus.

Prior to joining Post Masters, Jeff oversaw customer service and quality control teams at a Fortune 500 Company. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and an MBA from IIT. His allegiance continues for Purdue University – especially during basketball season. (Ask him about the time he jumped on former Purdue Coach Gene Keady when celebrating a win over Indiana.) Jeff spends a fair amount of off-work time on volleyball and tennis courts and cheers on the Indianapolis Colts between matches.

Joe McKinney

Joe McKinney has extensive experience in the print and mail industry.  Before joining Blue Octopus, he worked for one of the largest print and mail vendors in the state for 10 years, serving as plant manager for the last seven.  He was a litho off-set printer for five years prior to that. McKinney studied mechanical engineering at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).

McKinney serves as Director for Post Masters Indianapolis and Fort Wayne, Blue Octopus Printing Company and DOMA Document Solutions of Indiana.  He says he was drawn to the job because he loves the industry, but also because the organization hires people with disabilities.  “I love having the opportunity to be part of a company that makes a real difference in people’s lives,” he said.

Off the clock, McKinney coaches girls’ youth basketball.  He is an avid Pacers and Colts fan and a “pitiful” Cubs fan.  He loves hip-hop music and Batman. He and his wife, Amanda, have five children.

Lora Robinson
Account Manager

Lora is excited to join Blue Octopus after a four-year hiatus from the print business. She brings 25+ years of print/mail experience and has done everything from graphic design and proofreading to customer service and sales. She also held several positions as a designer/print buyer, giving her an extensive understanding of both sides of the print/mail process. Gaining a customer’s trust is her ultimate goal. “I want our customers to feel like we are part of their team, just in a different building!”

In her free time, Lora loves being outdoors. She is also an avid animal lover and became a certified dog trainer in 2010. Other interests include reading (mostly about dogs!) with an iced tea in hand, hiking and biking, eating outdoors, staying as far away from technology as possible, and hanging out with her own dogs, Oakley and Gunner. She also has a three-legged cat, six chickens and two awesomely wonderful grown sons.

Eric McCrae
Graphic Designer

Eric McCrae brings extensive experience in prepress, graphic design, and print technology.

Before joining Blue Octopus, he worked as a graphic designer for Midwest Color Printing Company in Bloomington, Indiana, and as a graphic designer and offset press operator for Matrix Imaging in Indianapolis.

Additional experience includes being a store manager for UPS and a manager and graphic designer for FedEx. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in IT Network Securities and holds a bachelor’s degree Computer Graphics Technology 3D animation and special graphics from Indiana University/Purdue University, Indianapolis.

Eric and his wife, Mia, have one son named Zach. Eric, when not a work, becomes a "renaissance man." He enjoys live music and plays guitar, and piano.
